Our organisation

Our commitments, goals and key priorities

An important part of bringing together functions of six previously separate agencies into a new Department of Communities is the development of an overarching plan which recognises the increased capacity of the combined department to provide better and more coordinated services.

The Department of Communities Strategic Framework has been developed to outline the commitments, goals and key priorities at both whole-of-agency and service levels.

The framework's three key strategic objectives are:

  • better services and simpler access for clients
  • more inclusive, active and safe communities
  • a more sustainable community service system that delivers better value.

Organisational arrangements

Our Organisational arrangements (PDF 42 kB) consist of the following service delivery areas:

Benefits of the new organisational arrangements will include:

  • improved delivery of community services
  • high quality client service
  • most appropriate mix and level of services to address multiple needs
  • more effective and efficient service provision
  • better relationships with non-government providers
  • improved delivery of whole-of-government and Council of Australian Governments priorities.
