Child care qualifications review report
The Department of Communities has recently completed a review of the qualifications provisions outlined in the Child Care Act 2002 and the Child Care Regulation 2003. A report has been finalised on the outcome of the review and was tabled in Parliament on 29 August 2007. The report includes information about the review process and recommendations of the review. These key findings are outlined in the Qualifications Review report.

Child Care Act 2002 and Child Care Regulation 2003
The Child Care Act 2002 and the subordinate Child Care Regulation 2003 commenced operation on 1 September 2003.
On 16 December 2005 amendments to the Child Care Regulation 2003 commenced. The amendments make corrections and clarify requirements for the provision of home based care, qualifications for staff members of child care service, requirements for excursions and escorting children in care to and from the child care service and the provision of written information to parents.
Infringement notices and the Child Care Act 2002
The Department of Communities has recently completed a review of the possible implementation of infringement notices for offences against the child care legislation. The report includes information about the review process, the department's existing compliance framework and the results of consultation. Building standards
The building requirements for child care centres do not appear in the Child Care Act 2002 and are incorporated under the Building Act 1975. The building standards for child care centres are contained in an annexure called the Queensland Development Code: Child Care Centres (MP5.4) which is referenced by the Building Regulation 2006.
