Doomadgee Child Care and Family Support Hub
The Doomadgee Child and Family Support Hub incorporates a 29 place child care centre, a child protection office that can also be used for visiting health workers and specialists, and a staff room that is large enough to hold meetings and training sessions.
The centre also offers outside school hours care activities. It is proposed that the centre can be used for a range of purposes and the community is keen to involve others to utilise their centre.
Construction of the Doomadgee Child Care and Family Support Hub was a joint initiative of the Department of Families and the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services.
Operational funds are provided through the Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Care (RAATSICC) Program. The Commonwealth will be providing additional funding to operate the centre.
