Caboolture - Lady Gowrie Family Day Care Scheme

Lady Gowrie Caboolture Family Day Care Scheme is accessed by up to 300 children. The service plays an integral role in ensuring child care needs of the community are met through the coordination of family day care, a resource library and information and referral services.

This proposal has been developed as part of the Community Renewal process which highlighted the Lady Gowrie community space as being a key location for the integration of a range of community services including child care, family support, health services and the neighbourhood centre.

This proposal aims to arrange and provide alternate care where necessary; run programs for parents and children to empower both parents and children; and be an initial point of contact for families to access a wider range of family support services. The service plays an integral role in ensuring child care needs of the community are met through the coordination of family day care, a resource library and information and referral services.

Recurrent funding of $35,000 is provided to employ 2 part-time workers and for set up costs for the coordination of a child care and family support hub in Caboolture.

The service is located in a socio-economically disadvantaged area with a lack of social infrastructure and other community services.

The service has documented community capacity to support the project; will outreach to areas of geographical remoteness; and is in an area of high projected growth.
