Maryborough and District Family Day Care

This service provides child care for children 0 to 12 years in the carer's own homes and in-home care for children in the childrens' homes.

Because the in-home care service is provided in homes it is more accessible to children with high support needs and for children who have a disability. The service is also flexible in meeting the needs of parents working non-standard hours.

Recurrent funding of $55,142 is provided to employ a hub coordinator, administrative assistant and for establishment and operational costs to develop linkages with support services for families who access family day care and require additional support.

This service was part of the Commonwealth's In-Home Care pilot scheme and has proven to be an effective service in coordinating and delivering child care and family support services in Maryborough. Because of the limited number of early intervention services in the area the carers' play an important role in working with families to support and refer them to services.
