Pormpuraaw - Pormpur Paanth Child Care Service
This service is sponsored by the Pormpur Paanth Aboriginal Corporation who is responsible for funds under the Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Care Program, the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program and Commonwealth after school care and vacation care programs.
The service has operated as a child care and family support hub in this community for some time with limited resources. The service provides parent education, child care, family support, OSHC and child protection.
The service has been pro-active in linking with a range of community groups and stakeholders and has actively sought to train indigenous women in the provision of child care. Recurrent funding of $63,652.75 is provided to employ a hub coordinator and for operating costs to enhance the work that the service is doing in coordinating services for children and families.
