Our department administers or jointly administers the following legislation. This legislation governs our activities, providing the framework within which we operate to protect Queensland's children and young people:

Surrogacy legislation now administered by Department of Justice and Attorney-General
In May 2009, responsibility for administration of the Surrogate Parenthood Act 1988 was transferred to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.
The Surrogacy Act 2010 which decriminalised altruistic surrogacy and provided for legal transfer of parentage of a child to the receiving parents was passed by Parliament in February 2010 and commenced on 1 June 2010.
