Child Safety Services is the Queensland Government agency for child protection and adoption services. We are dedicated to protecting children and young people from harm or who are at risk of harm, and whose parents cannot provide adequate care or protection for them.
We administer the
Child Protection Act 1999 and the
Adoption of Children Act 1964.
We work closely with non-government and government partners in the delivery of child protection services across Queensland.
We employ a range of people to assist us in providing child protection services, including
child safety officers, senior practitioners, and other frontline community workers who have experience in working with children, families and young people.
Safe, confident children and young people who are valued by society.
Our department is responsible for ensuring children and young people up to 18 years of age are safe and protected from harm when their parents cannot provide the necessary levels of care and protection.
We respond to families in crisis across Queensland 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Where possible, we keep families together, offering counselling and support services to help families help themselves.
We work in partnership with other Queensland Government departments, non-government organisations, and the broader community to deliver high-quality child protection services.
