These partnerships are facilitated through departmental initiatives such as the Child Protection Partnership Forum, quality assurance framework, licensing of care services and funding.
  • Child Safety Directors' Network

The Child Safety Directors’ Network (CSDN) supports the Queensland Government’s child protection system across the continuum from prevention and early intervention to statutory intervention and ensures child protection is a whole-of-Government responsibility.

  • Evolve Interagency Services

Evolve Interagency Services provides therapeutic and behaviour support services for children and young people under an interim or finalised child protection order granting custody or guardianship to the chief executive of the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

  • Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Team System

The purpose of the SCAN team system is to enable a coordinated, multi-agency response to children where statutory intervention is required to assess and meet their protection needs.

Trial of the Queensland Child Protection Guide – GO Live Details

As of 30 January 2012, staff of the Gold Coast Health Service District of Queensland Health and the South East Queensland Region of Department of Education and Training (DET) commenced participation in a 12 month trial of the Queensland Child Protection Guide.

The Queensland Child Protection Guide is a decision support tool that has been collaboratively developed across both the government and non-government sector to assist health and education professionals to report their concerns to the appropriate agency or to refer families to a service provider best placed to meet their needs. The process to develop the Queensland Child Protection Guide was led by the Children's Research Center, Wisconsin, USA in partnership with the department and builds on earlier work in NSW to develop a reporting guide.

The guide is a web-based tool that is currently available to staff from Queensland Heath and the Department of Education and Training through their desktop and intranet site respectively. The Queensland Child Protection Guide has been designed to complement rather than replace individual professional's critical thinking and does not preclude a professional from any course of action he/she believes is appropriate.

To support health and education professionals in their use of the Queensland Child Protection Guide over the trial period, an Advice and Liaison Officer employed by the department will be located in each of the three separate locations within the Helping Out Families initiatives established in 2010/11 in the South East Region.

For further information regarding the Queensland Child Protection Guide, please view the Queensland Child Protection Guide fact sheet (PDF, 213 KB) Queensland Child Protection Guide fact sheet (RTF, 9 KB).  For further enquiries, please contact Child Protection Development on 3405 4933 or email Rachel Jackman.

For health and education professionals in the trial region, please visit the Queensland Child Protection Guide site. For all other professionals, including the department staff interested in viewing the guide, there is a Queensland Child Protection Guide play environment site available.
