Quality assurance

We have developed a quality assurance (QA) framework for government and non-government services that outlines standards for the licensing of non-government services.

Our department has a commitment to deliver quality, meaningful services and our QA framework enhances our ability to monitor and improve the quality of service delivery by non-government child protection services.

The framework has three core elements:

  1. defining quality - developing service standards for child protection services.
  2. measuring quality - measuring current levels of performance or compliance against the defined service standards and implementing compliance monitoring processes.
  3. improving quality - using quality improvement methods to continuously address deficiencies and enhance strengths in service provision.

  • Service standards

Our quality assurance strategy for the non-government sector includes eleven minimum child safety service standards that define quality and convey what can be expected in terms of standard of the service provided.

  • Licensing of care services

Placement services, also known as alternative care or out-of-home care services, provide places and support for children and young people who are unable to live at home.
