Traveston Crossing Dam
The proposed Traveston Crossing Dam will be located 27 kilometres upstream of Gympie in the Mary River catchment. Covering approximately 3,039 hectares at full capacity, it will be the second largest dam (after Wivenhoe Dam) servicing the state's south east.
If approved by the Commonwealth Government, the proposed dam site will be subject to environmental rehabilitation prior to construction of the dam.
At the completion of stage one, the Traveston Crossing Dam will deliver up to 70,000 mega litres of water a year, which is up to 27% of the additional water required by 2015. The second stage of the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam, if required, will be completed by 2035.Information and assistance

Regional Services Forum
The Regional Services Forum has been established on the Sunshine Coast to provide a whole-of-government response to Mary Valley communities affected by the announcement to build the Traveston Crossing Dam.
Chaired by the Regional Executive Director, Sunshine Coast Region, Department of Communities, the forum is comprised of senior officers from State Government agencies in the region who meet regularly to discuss issues concerning residents and businesses in the Mary Valley, exchange up to date information on programs and services provided to the affected communities and consider short, medium and long-term strategies to ensure that issues are mitigated. A representative of the Community Futures Task Force attends forum meetings to ensure that regional issues which are brought to the attention of the task force are addressed.
