COMSIS makes it possible for data relevant across the Department to be accessible from a single point of enquiry, but with different levels of access based on data quality, consistent statistical geography and confidentiality requirements.

- The Australian Early Development Index (AEDI) is a population measure of young children's development. AEDI results provide communities with a snapshot of the development of their children across five key areas of early childhood development.

- AEDI Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFs) contain de-identified data about individual children for whom the AEDI Checklist has been completed. Access to CURFs is limited to researchers and organisations which undertake to keep data secure and not attempt to identify individual children. Release of this data is possible for planning, accountability and policy purposes.
