Communication and Embedding Plan

The Compact Governance Committee has developed and oversees the delivery of a Compact Communication and Embedding Plan (PDF, 230 KB) Compact Communication and Embedding Plan (RTF, 278 KB). A number of activities and strategies within the plan are already underway to support embedding of the Compact in practice in both the Queensland Government and the Non-profit Community Services Sector. This plan is intended to evolve as progress is made implementing the Compact and Action Plan by various groups across the state.

Community Engagement Statement

The Compact Governance Committee (CGC) made a commitment in the Compact Action Plan 2008-2010 to recommend strategies and protocols for the Queensland Government to embed effective consultative approaches into policy development and the planning stages of future reform agendas/initiatives that uphold the principles of the Compact.

To support this, the CGC has developed a Community Engagement Statement (PDF, 539 KB) Community Engagement Statement (RTF, 31 KB) after feedback from workshop participants at the Compact Intersectoral Forum in Toowoomba in May 2010. In response to feedback, behavioural indicators of effective engagement have been included in the Community Engagement Statement to aid implementation.

The Community Engagement Statement should be used as a tool, by both government and the sector, to adpot genuine consultative approaches that seek input into policy development and planning early enough to make a difference.

Effective Engagement Checklist

The Effective Engagement Checklist (PDF, 83 KB) Effective Engagement Checklist (RTF, 57 KB) was developed from the collective knowledge and experience of the Indigenous and non-Indigenous human service professionals who attended workshops at the Queensland Compact Intersectoral Forum in October 2010.

The checklist is designed to support mainstream organisations to prepare to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations. As part of the Compact Governance Committee's priorities for 2011, opportunities will be explored to enhance service delivery to Indigenous clients by using this checklist as a training tool and also as a quality assessment tool.

Principles for Data and Information Collection, Storage, Sharing and Use

A set of Principles for Data and Information Collection, Storage, Sharing and Use (PDF, 1.6 MB) Principles for Data and Information Collection, Storage, Sharing and Use (RTF, 16 KB), and an online toolkit to support their implementation, is available for use across government and the sector.

The principles and toolkit will support improved information sharing between government and the sector and will strengthen evaluation and planning processes.

In accordance with Compact commitments, the principles and the toolkit were developed through extensive consultation and collaboration with stakeholders in 2009 and 2010.

The toolkit is divided into two sections: (1) introductory "tip sheets" which support individuals, teams and networks to engage with the principles; and (2) more advanced "tip sheets" to support implementation of the principles, the establishment of data sharing agreements and the use of other data sharing support products. Additional tools will be added as required.
