A sustainable and capable workforce is vital to the provision of quality human services and better outcomes for clients.
Through the Queensland Compact, the Queensland Government and the Non-profit Community Services Sector committed to work together to improve the capacity and sustainability of the human service workforce.
Phase 1 - Research and consultations (May-November 2010)
In 2010, the Compact Governance Committee (CGC) completed Phase 1 of the Compact workforce development initiative, in collaboration with regional stakeholders. This was a research phase to identify priority actions to contribute to a more sustainable and capable human services workforce which is better able to meet the changing needs of clients into the future.
Phase 2 - Implementation (May 2011 - May 2012)
The CGC and regional stakeholders are now progressing Phase 2 of this initiative.
In March 2011 the CGC established a workforce sub-committee, with representation from government and the sector, to progress six of key strategies identified through Phase 1.
The Compact Workforce Sub-Committee has finalised its Action Plan Action Plan . The plan documents priority strategic and tangible products that the Sub-Committee and the Compact Government Committee will deliver drom May 2011 - May 2012 to support the human services workforce at a strategic, system level.
Regions are progressing local actions against the priorities identified through regional consultation events in 2010.
