The Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme provides funding for scheme endorsed aids and equipment to eligible Queensland residents with permanent and stabilised conditions or disabilities. The range of aids and equipment is selected to assist people to live at home and avoid premature or inappropriate residential care or hospitalisation.
Aids and equipment are subsidised either on a permanent loan basis, private ownership or through the purchase of consumables.
Applications are made via delegated health professional prescribers who undertake a full clinical assessment and implement a management strategy of the applicant's needs. Applicants must hold a Queensland Seniors Card, Health Care Card or a Pensioner Concession Card.
For more information, contact your local government or non-government community health service as listed in the White Pages, or contact the Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme on 3136 3636 or visit the Queensland Health website.
