The Textbook and Resource Allowance provides financial assistance to parents/caregivers to offset textbook and education resource costs for full time and part time students (with the exception of international fee paying students) in:
- Years 8-12 attending approved State and non-State schools excluding Centres for Continuing Secondary Education, hospital and prison schools and students undertaking part-time distance education in non-State schools
- Registered home schooling (Years 8-12);
- Australian Agricultural College campuses in Queensland (in lieu of Years 11 and 12)
- Special schools (age 13 and above).
Allowance Rates for 2010 – Calendar Year

| Ungraded students 15 years of age | $242 per student per annum |
| Part time students are entitled to the relevant FTE fraction of the allowance. | |
