Seniors Enquiry Line

The Seniors Enquiry Line is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm on weekdays and is a statewide information and referral service for:

  • concessions
  • social activities
  • household assistance
  • retirement accommodation
  • financial and legal matters
  • health and education
  • transport and many other matters.

The Seniors Enquiry Line is operated by UnitingCare Community and funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

Office for Seniors, Carers and Volunteering

The Office for Seniors, Carers and Volunteering:

  • manages the delivery of programs that aim to increase older people's social and workforce participation; prevent elder abuse; support older people to improve their health, wellbeing and safety; and increase community recognition of older people’s contributions
  • consults with the older people’s sector to understand the issues and priorities important to older Queenslanders
  • works across government to coordinate, review and monitor the provision of services which respond to older Queenslanders’ priority issues.

  • Government departments and agencies

    Although the Office for Seniors has the lead role for ageing issues in Queensland, other government agencies have responsibility for providing specific services for older people in the areas of health, transport, aged care, financial support, and housing.

  • Older People's Action Program

    The Older People's Action Program was established in 1995 to assist seniors at risk of social isolation. As part of the program, the Department of Communities provides funds to 20 non-government organisations in various locations across the state.

    The 60 and Better Program supports older people to develop and manage healthy ageing programs in their own communities using community development principles and practices.
