An Aboriginal Elder who was born and raised in Cherbourg, Sandra is also chairperson of the Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group and helped to produce a local film The Ration Shed.

In 2004, Sandra and her sister Lesley drove the push to create a museum in the heart of Cherbourg.

Housed in Cherbourg's Ration Shed, the museum features a collection of early photographs and memorabilia instilling pride in the local community's history and achievements.

Most days Sandra opens the museum for visitors, including busloads of school children, and then facilitates storytelling sessions and meetings with artists.

Sandra is passionate about telling stories to school students, young people and the public about her experiences of growing up in Cherbourg.
