Val Sharpe, 75, is a lifelong volunteer who owns a small farm 26km south of Texas with her husband.
Her early voluntary achievements included secretary of the Texas Younger Set and member of the church group and basketball team. She also volunteered at primary and secondary schools.
She was president of the Texas Catholic Church Ladies Committee for 15 years, a Salvation Army volunteer for the past seven years, President of Meals on Wheels for 23 years, and is now a hospital auxiliary volunteer. She also holds various community and sporting club voluntary positions.
Val is currently the Ladies President of the Texas Lions Club, a position she has held for the past 23 years. One of her many roles is to help plan and hold the Texas Christmas Party, a free event for the whole community. With her husband, she also helps to maintain the park amenities at Bonshaw Weir.
