Juanita has devoted thousands of unpaid hours as a volunteer for the Filipino-Australian community on the Sunshine Coast.
As President of the Filipino Australian Family Group of the Sunshine Coast for the last 15 years, Juanita has worked tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of Filipino women married to Australian men.
Juanita initiated regular monthly forums to discuss issues faced by Filipino women in mixed marriages such as homesickness, unfamiliarity with Australian culture, challenges faced by children and learning the English language.
Juanita also organises the Filipino Australian Cultural Performance Group, which showcases Filipino culture through regular performances on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.
Earlier this year, Juanita raised funds for people affected by the floods in south east Queensland. She has also conducted many other fund raising activities over the years, including donating annually to help needy families in the Philippines.
