Margaret Vickers began volunteering for Parkinsons Queensland after her husband was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease in 1993.
Parkinsons is a debilitating neurological disease with no known cause or cure. Margaret has made an outstanding contribution to Parkinsons Queensland, undertaking significant roles that require energy, quality time and sustained effort.
Margaret is the coordinator for the Logan Support Group, making herself freely available to provide telephone support to those first diagnosed and struggling with the shock and various emotions linked to initial diagnosis. She was also the driving force behind establishing a new support group at Browns Plains.
Margaret serves on the Management Committee of Parkinsons Queensland, and last year instigated a major fundraiser on the south side to raise awareness and funds for Parkinsons.
Margaret is an exceptional volunteer who is making a real difference for people living with Parkinsons and their carers.
