What is the Seniors Business Discount Card scheme?

The Seniors Business Discount Card scheme is free to join and delivers savings to permanent residents of Queensland aged 60 years and older. The scheme recognises the contribution Queensland seniors make to the community by providing discounts and special offers at participating businesses.

The Seniors Card, Seniors Card +go and Seniors Business Discount Card are part of the scheme.

Simply present your card at participating businesses to obtain discounts.

For seniors who are eligible for a Seniors Card or a Seniors Card +go, Queensland Government concessions are also available. To find out what card you may be eligible for, see full eligibility criteria below.

The scheme is FREE to join. As it is not assets-tested, you are not required to disclose your income.

Seniors Card +go

Seniors Card +go has all the benefits of a Seniors Card plus the ability to store credit for travel on the South East Queensland TransLink network, including buses, trains and ferries. Register your Seniors Card +go like any other go card. You can top up your Seniors Card +go, touch on any TransLink bus, train or ferry service and touch off at the end of your journey. For more information about registering your card and topping up your balance, contact TransLink on 13 12 30 or visit www.translink.com.au

Eligibility

All Queensland residents aged 60 and over are eligible for either a Seniors Card, Seniors Card +go or a Seniors Business Discount Card. All three cards provide access to discounts at thousands of participating businesses in Queensland, some interstate discounts, and access to the Senior Shopper service.

  • The Seniors Business Discount Card is available to all Queensland residents aged 60 and over.
  • The Seniors Card gives access to many government concessions as well as discounts at participating businesses and access to the FREE Senior Shopper service.
  • The Seniors Card +go has all the benefits of a Seniors Card plus the ability to store credit for travel on the South East Queensland TransLink network, including buses, trains and ferries.

To receive a Seniors Card or Seniors Card +go, you must be a permanent Queensland resident and be either:

  • aged over 65 and working less than 35 hours per week or
  • aged 60 to 64, not working full time (working less than 35 hours per week) and hold a Commonwealth concession card from Centrelink or Department of Veterans' Affairs (for example, a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veterans' Gold, White or Orange Card).

If you meet these criteria, and your principal place of residence is in Queensland, you can apply for a card. However, if you live primarily in another Australian state or territory, you will need to apply for a Seniors Card from the office closest to your home. For the locations of interstate Seniors Card offices go to Seniors Card and follow the links to the appropriate state or territory web site.
