Queensland GovernmentSeniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of seniors. In 2012, Seniors Week will be celebrated from 18 to 26 August.

Seniors Week aims to promote positive attitudes towards older people and ageing, encourage older people to lead active lifestyles, and foster inter-generational relationships.

The theme for 2011 was once again, Positively Ageless. The aim of Seniors Week 2011 was to celebrate and acknowledge the role of seniors in their respective communities as workers, carers, volunteers, mentors, community leaders, neighbours and friends.
The theme for 2010 was once again, Positively Ageless, and the aim of the week was to celebrate and acknowledge what seniors do for their respective communities as workers, carers, volunteers, role models, community leaders, neighbours and friends.
Seniors Week 2009 was celebrated from 15 to 23 August. The department sponsored 58 events held across the state including dances, dinners, fashion parades, fun walks, concerts, art shows, theatre productions and much, much more.
Seniors Week 2008 celebrations started on Sunday 17 August when crowds of seniors, their families and friends joined in the fun at a free Fun Day and Expo held at Brisbane's South Bank Parklands.
Seniors Week 2007 came alive on Sunday, 19 August at the Sunday Fun Day at South Bank in Brisbane. Seniors, family and friends enjoyed free food and entertainment, and lots of activities in and around the Suncorp Piazza.
The week was an opportunity for older people, their families and friends to celebrate the active and diverse lifestyles of Queensland seniors.
