Seniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages and backgrounds to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of seniors.
Seniors Week aims to:
- improve community attitudes towards older people and ageing
- facilitate community participation and activity by older people, including those from Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- enhance community connections and inter-generational relationships.
Seniors Week 2012 was celebrated from 18-26 August with the theme 'Living and loving life', highlighting the vibrant and active role that seniors play in all aspects of our communities.
In 2012, the Queensland Government supported community groups to hold more than 40 Seniors Week events across the state.
Seniors Week 2013 will be held from 17 to 25 August. Look out for further information about Seniors Week 2013 closer to the date!
