Winner: The Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research
For: Course in Responding to Domestic and Family Violence (30629QLD)
In 2008, Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research piloted the Course in Responding to Domestic and Family Violence (30629QLD).
This course is designed for a wide range of people whose work brings them into contact with people affected by domestic and family violence.
It focuses on secondary prevention and early intervention and seeks to ensure there is no 'wrong door' for victims of domestic and family violence. This is achieved by ensuring workers have the skills to recognise and respond effectively to the needs of women and children affected by violence.
The only course of its kind to be nationally accredited, it provides a nationally recognised qualification. The course addresses the specific needs of women from culturally diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.
