For: Domestic Violence victim – In her words radio interview
ABC Southern Queensland radio presenter Belinda Sanders was presented with the Media Award for interviews that raised public awareness about domestic and family violence throughout south-west Queensland.
The interviews profiled two key people campaigning to end violence against women and aired as part of the Toowoomba Says No to Violence campaign.
Belinda's interview with Dr Michael Kaufman, the Canadian co-founder of White Ribbon Day, shed light on the man who created an international movement to encourage men to speak out against violence toward women.
Belinda also interviewed courageous domestic violence survivor, Lani Brennan, who sought justice after being subject to years of brutal violence by her former partner. Belinda’s interview and Lani's frank and honest account of her experience inspired many listeners and provided encouragement to those hoping to seek a life free from domestic violence.
