Winner: Charleville Police District in collaboration with community agencies

For: The Australia Day Spectacular Hit DV for 6

Organisers of Hit DV 4 6 cricket competition were recognised for their role in educating local community members and raising awareness about domestic and family violence.

The event, coordinated by Charleville Police District brought the community together in a fun, family-oriented environment to educate people about the issue and reinforce the message that domestic and family violence is unacceptable. The event also promoted the importance of respectful and healthy relationships to the large number of children in attendance.

More than 400 people participated in the match, held on Australia Day (26 January) 2011 where local domestic and family violence services provided information and advice and community members could also take part in an art activity to show that they stand against this type of violence.

Hit DV 4 6 attracted strong sponsorship from agencies across the community including the Far West Indigenous Family Violence Service, Charleville and Western Areas Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health, Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Services, and the Commonwealth Bank.

The event also won the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Award.
