There are many different volunteering opportunities available across many government departments. Help children to read

If you are passionate about helping children and want to engage with your local school, the Queensland Ready Readers program could be right for you.

Queensland Ready Readers will enlist community volunteers to support existing school reading programs. To become a Ready Reader you will be required to undergo training in the support process you will use with young readers. The training will be delivered by experienced staff from the Department of Education and Training, and you will be guided and supported through your learning. The training program will be a total of eight hours, and there will be a number of options to allow you to complete the training.

Raise community awareness as a Fishcare volunteer

Managed by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, this program raises awareness amongst anglers about preserving fisheries resources and the need for an ethical approach to recreational fishing.

Active volunteering in a parkland environment
