Emergency assistance

1800 numbers are free; 13 and 1300 numbers are at local call cost unless from a mobile phone.

The following services provide confidential advice and assistance. These services are all free of charge if you call from a land-based telephone line.

Assists women to obtain refuge accommodation, counselling and referral to other services.

Provides counselling, information and referral to men affected by domestic and family violence.

A free confidential telephone counselling service for five to 25-year-olds.

A 24-hour confidential telephone service for women who have been sexually abused or sexually assaulted at any time of their lives.

The Immigrant Women's Support Service (IWSS) is a community based organisation which works with women and children of non-English speaking background who are or have been in violent domestic situations and/or have experienced rape and/or sexual assault.

Women's Infolink provides free, confidential information about and referral to community organisations and government departments that support women.

Legal Aid Queensland provides free legal information and advice as well as legal assistance to financially and socially disadvantaged Queenslanders.

The Elder Abuse Prevention Unit is a state-wide telephone information, support and referral service for anyone experiencing abuse or witnessing the abuse of an older person.

Parentline is a confidential telephone counselling service for parents and/or primary care givers.

Lifeline is a 24-hour telephone counselling services that is available for anyone, at anytime and from anywhere in Australia.

Trained counsellors - many of them volunteers - offer telephone counselling 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for people experiencing a crisis or difficulties. The service is available to anyone.
