International Women's Day

International Women’s Day (IWD), held globally on 8 March each year, celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.

The Office for Women and Community Support leads the Queensland Government's participation in International Women's Day.

Queensland Women – Building Connections

The Queensland Government theme for 2013 International Women's Day celebrations was ‘Queensland Women – Building Connections’. The connections women make enhance their personal well-being, and build stronger, more inclusive communities.

The Queensland Government is committed to supporting women – on International Women's Day and all year round – to make new and strengthen existing connections, by providing information and support to women through Women’s Infolink.

Women’s Infolink connects Queensland women with free and confidential support, information and service referrals on any issue statewide. Call 1800 177 577, email info@women.qld.gov.au or use the online Find a service tool.

Queensland Women 2013 - a statistical snapshot

On International Women's Day Minister for Communities, Tracy Davis, released a statistical snapshot of women's progress in key areas such as education and training, employment and economic security, safety, housing and health and wellbeing.
