Planning community safety responses

There are a range of alcohol free activities that can be included in community safety responses. The variety and scope of activities will be determined by available resources and local conditions.

Activities that have contributed to reducing the risk of harm and reinforcing safety and security in the past include:

  • registration of school leavers with photo ID
  • enclosed/fenced event zones
  • alcohol-free diversionary activities including music, dance parties, beach parties, theme parties and bands
  • free food, water, drinks
  • local volunteers, and
  • free bus travel.
