Coralie Hungerford meets The Duke of Edinburgh
Determination to meet The Duke of Edinburgh
Coralie Hungerford is the Licensed Operator for The Award scheme at Smithfield State High School, near Cairns. Since registering in 1998 more than 20 students at the school have participated and benefited.
"I personally benefited from Dukes in the late 1970s when I completed my Gold Award," Coralie said.
"As an adult, I wanted local youth and students to also be able to share that same opportunity. Now as a Licensed Operator, I am able to give local youth in my area the opportunity to do this, and hence this provides another rewarding experience for me. Even my children are involved in Dukes!"
"The Duke of Edinburgh's Award program is an important part of my life and the lives of my students, who have been able to strive together, yet still be individuals in achieving their personal best.
"I recommend all youth of today to participate in Dukes - and also strongly encourage other teachers to get behind this program and support young people by becoming a Licensed Operator."
