Step-by-step guide to completing your award

A young girl in a safety helmet, red shirt, blue shorts and sneakers is climbing a cliff face out in the bush. Three people are on the ground beneath her.
  1. Select your activities

What do you want to do for each section of the Award? Talk to your Award Coordinator or parent for advice.
  2. Complete an Award plan

Fill in your Award plan. For Bronze and Silver (PDF, 55 KB) Bronze and Silver (RTF, 15 KB) give your Award plan to your Award Coordinator or, if an independent participant, send your Award plan to the State Award Office to be approved. Gold Award Plans (PDF, 51 KB) Gold Award Plans (RTF, 16 KB) are to be sent to the State Award Office only for approval.
  3. Find your Assessors

With your Award Coordinator's advice, find a suitable Assessor for each of your activities. You can also contact the State Award Office for advice. Assessors are people who help you with your activities. They are suitably skilled and have experience/qualifications in your chosen activity. They also sign and date your record book when you have completed the requirements for the section.
  4. Begin your activities

After your plan is approved start your activities. You can do one or more sections of your Award at a time.
  5. When you complete a section

Check to make sure your record book has been filled in correctly, and that the Assessor's report is completed, signed and dated by your Assessor.
  6. How to get your Award approved

Give your record book to your Award Coordinator to send to an Area Award Committee or the State Award Office for approval.
  7. How do you get your Award

When your Award is approved you will receive a letter from the State Award Office and receive your certificate and badge from your Award Coordinator or by attending an Award presentation.
  8. Want to do the next level?

Notify the State Award Office by returning an Award Continuation Payment Form (For Bronze and Silver Awardees only).
