How to apply for the Duke of Ed Award

How to apply in three easy steps

Ready to take up the challenge and start working towards your Award? We've made applying easy — get ready for the adventure you've been looking for!

Step 1: Find a Licensed Operator

Check with your school or local youth group to see if they are a Licensed Operator of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. If they are, you can get a Participant Application form from them and sign up straight away. If not, you can still participate.

Step 2: Sign up

If you have been unable to find a Licensed Operator, fill out the Participant Application form (PDF, 383 KB) Participant Application form (RTF, 275 KB) and return it along with the application fee Credit Card Payment Form (PDF, 49 KB) Credit Card Payment Form (RTF, 61 KB)  (see below) to the State Award Office.

Step 3: Get ready for The Duke of Ed!

Once your application has been processed you will receive your Award record book from your Award Coordinator (the person who runs the Award at your school or organisation) or directly from the State Award Office. Then you've officially become a Duke of Ed participant and are ready to take the first steps to completing your Award.

Cost

In Queensland, your first level of The Award only costs $57* and each subsequent level is $26* (*includes GST).  This fee covers your insurance, record book, certificate and badge. Additional costs may be involved in your Award depending on the types of activities you choose to do. Some schools and organisations may charge for additional services, so make sure you check with your Award Coordinator.

Organisations

If you want to get involved with The Duke of Ed Award you may be interested in becoming a Licensed Operator. A Licensed Operator is any group or organisation licensed by the Queensland The departmentto deliver The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and The Bridge Award.

To apply fill out the Licensed Operator Application form (PDF, 288 KB) Licensed Operator Application form (RTF, 196 KB) and return it along with the registration fee to the State Award Office.

Cost

Fee structure:

  • all schools (eg. Independent School, State High Schools) $141
  • Government organisations (Government Departments) $141
  • funded non-Government organisations (eg. community development centres, youth services, disability services) $90
  • unfunded non-Government organisations (eg. church youth groups, some mainstream youth organisations) $60
  • statewide youth organisations (by special arrangement only) $42.
