The Duke of Ed Award levels

The Duke of Ed consists of Bronze, Silver and Gold Award levels. You should start at the level that matches your age. When you have completed the four sections at your chosen level (five for Gold) your achievement will be recognised with a certificate and an Award badge. Bronze and Silver Award holders can then move onto the next level of The Award.

The Award requirements for each level are:

 Bronze
Minimum Age: 14 yrs

Minimum Age: 15 yrs

Minimum Age: 16 yrs
Volunteering,
Skills,
Fitness/Physical Recreation
Three months participation in each section Six months participation in each section 12 months participation in each section
Plus... All participants to do an extra three months in either fitness/physical recreation or skills or volunteering Non-Bronze Awardees to do an extra six months in either fitness/physical recreation or skills or volunteering Non-Silver Awardees to do an extra six months in either fitness/physical recreation or skills or volunteering
Adventurous Journey** Two days + one night Three days + two nights Four days + three nights

* The Gold Award has the additional requirement of a five day / four night Residential Project.

** Satisfactory completion of the Adventurous Journey section includes preparation and training appropriate for the journey being undertaken and at least one practice journey of equivalent standard.
