
This section aims to encourage development of personal interests and practical skills within a wide range of practical, cultural and social activities.
As a participant, you have three choices. You can either:
- continue and progress an interest in an activity such as fishing, stamp collecting or playing a musical instrument, or
- study a topic of personal interest such as fashion, relationships or money matters, or
- complete a definite task such as making simple pieces of furniture, building a boat or producing plays.
Choosing your activity
There are many activities that can qualify for the skills section such as:
- acting
- art appreciation
- astrology/tarot reading
- braille
- cooking
- creative writing
- debating
- dog training
- drawing
- driving
- film production
- jewellery design
- juggling
- languages
- meditation
- musical instrument
- painting
- photography
- pottery
- reading
- refereeing
- sculpture
- sign language
- singing
- theatre
- web page design
Requirements
Bronze
Three months, averaging a commitment of at least one hour per week. If you choose to extend this section you will need to undertake your activity for a total of six months. #1
Silver
Six months, averaging a commitment of at least one hour per week. As a direct entrant, if you choose to extend this section you will need to undertake your activity for a total of 12 months. #2
Gold
12 months, averaging a commitment of at least one hour per week. As a direct entrant, if you choose to extend this section you will need to undertake your activity for a total of 18 months. #3
- #1 You will need to complete an additional three months in either Volunteering, Skill or Fitness/Physical Recreation to complete a total of six months.
- #2 You will need to complete an additional six months in either Volunteering, Skill or Fitness/Physical Recreation to complete a total of 12 months.
- #3 You will need to complete an additional six months in either Volunteering, Skill or Fitness/Physical Recreation to complete a total of 18 months.
