Thousands of young Queenslanders celebrated Youth Week 2010 at more than 200 events across the state.

Festivals and concerts
Battle City Brisbane
Young people took part in the ultimate hip hop block party to invade Brisbane's CBD, proudly presented by Brisbane City Council in association with Knee Deep. Battle City saw b-boys and b-girls in crews of four face off to a soundtrack of high energy hip hop and funk as all endeavoured to take out the $400 cash prize.
Youth Homelessness Day Activities Mount Isa
As part of the X-strata Family Fun Day, Centacare Reconnect provided a static display representing youth homelessness and also ran activities including temporary tattoos and face painting. Activities were also run at the local high school during the lunch times on this day to highlight the issue of youth homelessness.
Go Mad Youth Week 2010 Goondiwindi
A week long series of events celebrating young people through activities such as the Great Race @ The Botanical Gardens including BBQ, games & prizes; Street Eat; Basketball After Dark @ PCYC.
Street Fest! Logan
A celebration on the streets of Logan with a mix of young people from various cultural backgrounds performing a range of different styles of music, dance, and entertainment, with appearances from special guests.
Homegrown (10th Year Anniversary) Maroochydore
A free community event run by young people for young people featuring live music, art, skate comps, rides, markets, workshops and more. This year featured a stellar line-up of local and Brisbane based bands including 'Dead Letter Circus' headlining the event.
Glenden Youth Club "Live It Now" Glenden
A week long event organised and run by the local youth group and volunteers celebrated youth activities including bands, pool parties, a scavenger hunt, games and competitions. The event raised funds for the youth club which is a not for profit group run by and for the youth of the community.
Crestmead Annual Outdoor Spectacular Crestmead
Free live entertainment for young people including bands, rides, music and buskers. There were skate, scooter and BMX competitions with great prizes up for grabs and youth focused stalls which offered giveaways.
Young Carers Festival Beenleigh
This event was held to recognise the contribution and sacrifices young people make when they have caring responsibilities for a family member. It was a chance for young people to have fun, connect with their peers and learn new skills.
Queeriosity Fortitude Valley
A free National Youth Week festival, celebrating the diversity of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex young people, aged 12-25. This drug and alcohol free event displayed some of the best queer & alternative talent Brisbane and beyond has to offer, with a smorgasbord of artistic and musically gifted peeps parading their skills.
Sport and recreation
Torres Shire Youth Basketball Carnival Thursday Island
A Youth basketball carnival was held for U23's and U16 boys & girls. Held over 5 days, the carnival encouraged young people to participate in healthy activities within a safe and positive environment.
BMX Workshop and Jam Miami
Young people on the Coast had a ride in the beginner workshops hosted by professional BMX rider Tim Wood. Each workshop was followed by a BMX jam for beginners and experienced riders to show off their latest tricks and moves.
Vibe Youth Program Gold Coast
The program offered young people opportunities to try out a range of sports and activities including, skating, surfing, pilates, putt-putt, and water aerobics encouraging participants to get outdoors and get active.
Street Circus Brisbane
Young people learned the tricks of the trade including acrobatics, juggling, miming, plate spinning, and clowning around with Flipside Circus, Brisbane's funkiest youth circus troupe.
Let's Live and Give Life Annual Memorial Skate Day Runaway Bay
A memorial day and skate competition was held to honour the memory of Jye Strong and Nathan Sprecak.
Touch Down Touch Challenge Pialba
A fun day of Touch Footy, free food and lots of prizes.

A knockout style pool competition for young people.
Youth Week 2010 $5 Yoga Classes Fortitude Valley
Yoga in Daily Life (YIDL) offered $5 yoga classes for anyone under 25 for the duration of Youth Week 2010! Yoga is a great benefit to young adults particularly helping with stress management (uni students!) and clearer thinking.
Amazing Race Carindale
Teams raced around Carindale's surrounding areas in competition with other teams. Contestants strived to collect imagery and souvenirs at various checkpoints across the terrain in a set time. Great prizes were awarded to the winning team.

Have a say day Pacific Islander voices Woodridge
Young people from the Pacific Islander community had the opportunity to discuss what they saw as priorities for their community to improve and shared ideas on what they want to happen within the community for youth.
Youth Arts Forum Ipswich
All young people of Ipswich, who are under 30 and who study, make or love the arts were invited to have a say in a three-year Young People and the Arts Plan for Ipswich.
National youth Homelessness Matters Day Gold Coast
This is a national awareness raising campaign to highlight the issue of Youth Homelessness. The theme for 2010 is Countdown: EVERYBODY COUNTS. This forum conveyed the message that young people who experience homelessness are homeless but not hopeless and celebrated the resilience of young people who experience
QTIC-Y Tourism Youth Summit Brisbane
The QTIC-Y Youth Summit was a networking event for students and employees in the tourism industry. The Summit included presentations from tourism industry experts and successful Generation Y employees in the industry.
Our State. Our City. Our Future Brisbane
An interactive forum was held for young people in Brisbane to discuss what they would like for the future of Brisbane and Queensland with direct input to a range of government decision-makers.
JustUs? Youth Forum Fortitude Valley
This forum encouraged young people to explore their identity, place and purpose. Billy Williams (Djaywunti, Scripture Union Qld Indigenous Liaison) spoke on Identity and Dave Andrews (TEAR Australia, Waiters' Union) facilitated discussions around diversity and community.
Cairns Indigenous Youth Summit 2010 Mooroobool
The first day of the Cairns Indigenous Youth Summit focused specifically on developing leadership, communication and building confidence in young people. The second day saw young participants influencing decisions made by policy makers in Cairns in relation to youth issues. This was a great opportunity for local youth to have a voice.
Creative Content Development Session - YPAA National Symposium Newspaper Brisbane
YPAA invited opinions on arts, culture and democracy through zine columns, cartoons, poetry, creative writing and photographs. Young people used Mac laptops provided to develop art at the NYW Youth Arts Showcase. Selected works appeared in 200 newspapers at YPAA's National Symposium in June.

Celebrating Youth Out West Blackall
The celebration consisted of four days of workshops and a showcase to feature stories of youth from Central West Queensland, describing what life is like for young people in the region. Youth shared their stories through diverse media such as song, dance, drama, visual arts, video, and multimedia.
Body Shop Skincare and Make-Up Workshop Southport
Young people learned the three basic steps of looking after their skin and the correct application techniques of face, eyes, cheeks and lips. You will also find out the make up and eye colours to match your skin.
Vampires and Wolves Chermside and Sunnybank Hills
Film concept artist David Lovegrove, who worked on The Ruins as well as the upcoming television series The Pacific, showed how artists designed the storyboards, clothes, hairstyles and accessories. Young people also learned how to draw their favourite vampires, humans or wolves using the tricks of the trade.
Hip Hop Workshop Inala, Bracken Ridge, Indooroopilly, Chermside, Coopers Plains
Young people joined hip hop MC, beatmaker and slam poetry champion Darkwing Dubs for an insight into writing and performing hip hop to develop some serious skills and get confident behind the pen and microphone.
'And action...' Brisbane
A five-day project covering drama and improvisation workshops, fight workshop, special effects make-up, filming and editing. Films created were screened as part of Youth Arts Showcase on Saturday 17 April in King George Square.

Movie Screening: The Princess Bride Indooroopilly
Based on William Goldman's novel, this is a post-modern fairy tale with dashing heroes, cowardly princes, rhyming giants, shrieking eels, rodents of unusual size, fancy swordfights, and even some kissing! The Princess Bride has been described as arguably one of the funniest and most entertaining films of all time.
Hairspray Bribie Island
Young people joined together to watch Hairspray and enjoyed the music and stylings of John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Zac Efron and Christopher Walken.
Game On Fancy Dress Kallangur
Enthusiastic gamers came dressed as their favourite game, amine and book characters at the fancy dress online gaming night.
Wii Gaming Redcliffe
A chance for wireless gaming ninjas to get together to off their skills at the Wii gaming night.
THIS IS US Brisbane
The premiere screening of "THIS IS US", a film about showing young people in care as they are was held during National Youth Week. It is a positive film about real ways to deal with day to day things that young people face. There was also a drumming workshop, lunch and free showbag for aprticipants.
What's on Crew - Movie Night Bowen
The outdoor movie night under the stars featured a screening of 'Bran Nue Day' featuring Jessica Mauboy and Ernie Dingo.
Youth recognition, networking and information sharing
The Youth Arts Showcase and M.A.D 4 Teens Magazine Launch Brisbane
Youth Art Showcase is where the brightest of Brisbane's young and emerging artists come to shine. The community was given the chance to see their work, hear them play and wander amongst their wares on display. Music, circus, visual arts and comedy entertained the crowds on the last Saturday of National Youth Week.
Youth Achievement Awards Maryborough
The Maryborough Youth Achievement Awards acknowledged the young achievers of the community who otherwise go unrecognised. The awards were established with the objective of creating a positive perception of youth in the area.
Careers Expo Cooktown
All ages came to find out about the world of careers beyond their local community. Young people talked to employers, training organisations, local councillors and much more and find out how to make their career dreams a reality.
Mackay's Got Talent Mackay
Mackay's got talent is aimed at showcasing young people's talent to the broader community by way of having a talent competition. Throughout the evening there was ongoing entertainment and Tianna from HOT FM appeared as one of the judges.
Left Right Think-Tank Queensland Launch Brisbane
Left Right Think-Tank Queensland celebrated their official launch at Parliament House which was a fantastic opportunity to connect young people and policy makers. Guest speakers included Queensland Treasurer Andrew Fraser and Leader of the Opposition John-Paul Langbroek.
Youth Information Day Hervey Bay, Urangan
Sessions were provided for year 8 students where youth workers from youth services came to the school and met with the students to give them information about their service.
Gold Coast PCYC free introduction Broadbeach Waters
A free orientation of the club and activities. Young people were able to visit each of the eight activity areas and receive a free voucher to attend one of the 40 different fitness classes available or a session in the fully equipped weights gym.
2010 Young Professionals' CEO Breakfast Brisbane
IPAA Queensland's YP CEO Breakfast brought together young professionals and CEOs to network, share and learn from each others experiences and career highlights. This year's theme, "Learning Success from the Successful", offered young professionals the perfect opportunity to connect with their CEO and Senior Executives, as well as a chance to hear from a panel of highly successful leaders.
Music performances
Live Music with Minor Offence Chermside
Minor Offence is a local Brisbane band that formed in early 2007. The band, fronted by Tom Kenny (guitar/vox) with Sean Jackson (bass/vox) and Wayne Jackson on the drums performed for young people during National Youth Week.
Buderim Unplugged Buderim
A High School aged Singer/Song Writer Competition culminating in a showcase of young talent.
Friday Nite Live Gig North Rockhampton
Young, live local bands played outside on stage next to the PCYC with late night skate boarding at the park and 3 on 3 basketball.
BASS-SD Youth Concert Stanthorpe
A number of local bands who have been working through a variety of development workshops to improve their skills, took this is opportunity to perform in front of others.

Bring The Noise 2010 Music Tour & RockOn Workshops were a series of live music concerts and creative music writing workshops that were conducted and performed across the Western Downs Regional Council area (Tara, Miles, Wandoan, Chinchilla & Dalby). The event allowed local youth to showcase their talents, access professional development, learn new skills, and enjoy quality live music.
2010 Battle of the Bands Ayr
The 2010 Burdekin Battle of the Bands competition was open to bands throughout North Queensland with band members aged between 12 & 25.
