What does a human resource consultant do?
Human resource consultants work in partnership with management, clients and colleagues to identify and investigate organisational issues, recommend options for change and support management in the implementation of contemporary human resource practices.
At the Department of Communities and Disability Services Queensland, this involves developing and implementing workforce plans to ensure management have the right people, in the right place at the right time to achieve their business outcomes. These workforce plans are supported by the development and implementation of the department’s learning and development framework and priorities, as well as robust yet flexible recruitment and selection processes aimed at attracting the best employees.
Human resource consultants encourage fair and safe work environments through the implementation of policies and procedures in the areas of workforce diversity, performance planning, career development, succession planning, equal employment opportunity/anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.
“ My job is challenging but
rewarding and I get to work
on a huge range of projects
