What does a senior finance officer do?

A senior finance officer’s main role is to assist in the management of Disability Services Queensland and the Department of Communities financial position. This is achieved through the use of expert technical advice, financial analysis and costing, development and monitoring of budgets, as well as the compilation of financial statements and other financial reports.

Working as a senior finance officer servicing two very different departments provides you with the opportunity to broaden your range of generalist financial roles, or you can specialise in various fields including financial accounting, management accounting, financial analysis, taxation, policy writing and even financial training.

Finance staff play an integral role in ensuring that public monies are utilised in the most efficient and effective manner to maximise service delivery to the community. We also ensure that all accountabilities to Parliament are also met.

" "The standards and expectations within the department are high, creating not only a challenging work environment, but also one where your opinions are sought and valued from the day you arrive." Darren Zande, Manager
