Award winner: SPAR Malanda Supermarket

Award recipient: SPAR Malanda Supermarket

Malanda is a small farming community, where employment opportunities in general are limited. Over the past nine years SPAR Malanda Supermarket has improved the employment opportunities for people with a disability and currently employs three staff members with a disability. The management and supervisors at SPAR Malanda Supermarket have a positive and proactive attitude towards employees with a disability in their workplace. They provide employment opportunities for people based not on their disability but rather their ability to complete the requirements of the position.

SPAR employees who are living with a disability and their family members are aware that they work in a positive and supportive workplace. This gives employees the assurance that their employment is stable, secure and allows them to gain greater confidence.
