Legal Aid Queensland has enhanced its focus on the needs of people with an intellectual disability in the criminal justice system. To support this focus Legal Aid Queensland has:
- Held the Law Week Hypothetical
- Amended our Duty Lawyer forms
- Conducted continuing professional development seminars
- Commenced a revision of the Duty Lawyer Handbook
- Developing guidelines for appropriately dealing with clients who have a mental illness or who have an intellectual or cognitive disability.
