This step promotes the involvement of service users in planning specialist disability service delivery and implementing a specialist disability service provider's quality management system. Service providers are encouraged to consider individual needs, and plan and allocate resources accordingly. Any specific support should be arranged and adequate information on the standards provided to service users so they can effectively participate in this step.

Once feedback is sought from service users, specialist disability service providers need to document the findings and any action plans. These findings and action plans can be added to a service provider's self-assessment (PDF, 915 KB) self-assessment (RTF, 258 KB) findings or to their continuous improvement plan (PDF, 787 KB).

Specialist disability service providers must maintain confidentiality while gathering feedback from service users.

Specialist disability service providers should update their service users regularly on any action taken from the service user assessment process.

For more information on Step 2, refer to Step 2 - Service user assessment poster (PDF, 310 KB) and Resource Kit 2 (PDF, 302 KB) Resource Kit 2 (RTF, 286 KB).
