In the first step of implementation, specialist disability service providers should develop the foundation for continuous improvement planning. In Step 4, specialist disability service providers work from that foundation and establish a plan for continuous improvement.

Specialist disability service providers should establish effective communication systems and implement a plan, do, check, act cycle - refer to Resource Kit 3 (PDF, 251 KB) Resource Kit 3 (RTF, 75 KB). It is important to support service-wide participation in this continuous monitoring and improvement cycle.

If they're not already doing so, specialist disability service providers should address the causes of problems and monitor the effectiveness of changes using an internal audit program. Any quality controls should also be established and implemented at this stage.
