Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services

Specialist disability service providers receiving Department of Communities (Disability and Community Care Services) recurrent funding must achieve and maintain certification through an accredited certification body.

Specialist disability service providers choose from a range of independent certification bodies and are able to choose the timing of their audit within set parameters.

Specialist disability service providers must meet each of the indicators under the Queensland Disability Service Standards (QDSS) or Queensland Disability Advocacy Standards (QDAS) by providing evidence of the way their systems and processes meet each of the standards.

Once certified, specialist disability services undergo surveillance audits to ensure they still meet the QDSS or QDAS and to review the organisations continuous improvement plan. Every three years, the specialist disability service providers must be recertified.

Fact sheet 2: The audit process (PDF, 169 KB) Fact sheet 2: The audit process (RTF, 24 KB), provides a guide to the audit process. It is applicable for service users and families and carers who would like to participate in the audit process.
