Certification bodies are independent of the Department of Communities (Disability and Community Care Services) and conduct service providers' external assessments and surveillance audits.
Certification bodies wishing to conduct audits within the Disability Sector Quality System are required to be accredited by the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ).
There are a number of certification bodies currently accredited under JAS-ANZ, thereby offering specialist disability service providers flexibility and choice.
For a list of accredited certification bodies, visit the JAS-ANZ Register for Accredited Bodies and select Management Systems, then Disability Support Services in Queensland, in the program drop-down menu.
Specialist disability service providers are responsible for negotiating and contracting a certification body to undertake their external assessment. Resource Kit 4 Resource Kit 4 contains further information on contracting a certification body.
