A certification body appoints an independent audit team for each external assessment.
At a minimum, an audit team consists of a lead auditor and an audit-trained service user selected on the basis of their competence and the requirements of the particular audit. Dependant on the size of the audit, an additional auditor may be appointed.
A technical advisor may also be included in the team. A technical advisor has specialist knowledge, for example in a specific type of disability or specialised communication need.
Members of an audit team attend a mandatory workshop before undertaking an audit. Information about the workshops can be obtained by contacting the Disability Sector Quality System project team.
Refer to Fact sheet 3: The audit team Fact sheet 3: The audit team for more information. This fact sheet is suitable for service users, families and carers who would like to participate in the audit process.
