It is recognised that the application of the Queensland Disability Service Standards (QDSS) or Queensland Disability Advocacy Standards (QDAS) may not be appropriate to the service delivery of some specialist disability service types.
This may occur when:
- the service user is not a person with a disability, or a carer or family of a person with a disability
- service delivery is not care based
- service delivery is not provided through direct contact with service users
- service delivery is population based or
- a specialist disability service provider is also the service user.
Those specialist disability service providers recurrently funded solely for the following service types may choose the ISO 9001:2008 standard as an alternative option to the QDSS or QDAS:
Information and print disability
- 6.02 - Information and print disability
- 6.03 - Combined information/advocacy
- 6.04 - Mutual support/self help groups
- 6.05 - Alternative formats of communication
Other support
- 7.01 - Research and evaluation
- 7.02 - Training and development
- 7.03 - Peak bodies
- 7.04 - Other support services
The ISO 9001:2000 Supplementary Resource Kit supports these specialist disability service providers to identify which set of standards best supports their service delivery.
