- All references to the ‘transitional period’ are no longer valid. The transitional period, due to initially cease on 31 December 2009 and extended on two consecutive occasions, ceased on 31 March 2011 with full scheme requirements commencing 1 April 2011.
- Disability Services Queensland (DSQ) or Disability Services is now known as the Department of Communities (Disability and Community Care Services) (DCCS)
- The Guardianship and Administrative Tribunal (GAAT) no longer exists and it’s functions now form part of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. (QCAT)
- An amendment to the Disability Services Act (the Act) commenced in December 2009, to enable a short-term approval to be issued for a maximum period of 6 months.
- An amendment to the Act commenced in March 2011, to enable a short-term approval to be issued in circumstances where there is a guardian for a restrictive practice (general) matter for the adult, and where the guardian has neither given, nor refused to give, consent to the use of the restrictive practice for the adult.
