The Queensland Carer Action Plan 2011-14 is an action in "Absolutely Everybody: enabling Queenslanders with a disability" and will support our delivery on the priority area of strong natural networks.
The plan was developed in consultation with the Queensland Carers Advisory Council and key community representatives and is based on three areas: recognition and respect for carers; support for carers; and carers’ participation and builds on the Carer Action Plan 2006-10.
All actions in the plan should recognise the diversity of carer backgrounds and respond to people’s unique needs including gender equality, sexual orientation, cultural background and geographic location.
Importantly the plan acknowledges that carers have different needs to the people for whom they care.
Through the action plan the Queensland Government will continue to work in partnership with carers and the community to help carers meet their caring responsibilities and maintain a balance between their caring role and other life activities.
Plan activities will be monitored annually and reviewed before the end of its term to inform the next three-year plan.
