Our services

The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services helps people with a disability and their families to access the support and services they need as they move through the different stages of their life.
  • Accommodation support

    We deliver accommodation support services directly as well as fund non-government organisations to provide accommodation support. The department's directly provided accommodation support service is provided by our Accommodation Support and Respite Services.

  • Adult and Community Support Services

    Adult and Community Support Services are a range of professional and specialist services that are planned to meet the needs of families supporting an individual with a disability.

  • Community Living Initiative

    The Community Living Initiative may assist adults with a disability to set up a home and lifestyle of choice; and family members exploring the possibility of a family member making the transition to living in his or her own place.

  • Family and Early Childhood services

    Disability Services supports families with a child aged up to six years who has or is at risk of a significant developmental delay.

  • Parent Connect Initiative

  • Queensland Community Care Services

    The Home and Community Care Program is a Commonwealth/State joint funded program. HACC is a key provider of community care services to frail aged people and younger people with a disability and their carers.

  • Intensive Behaviour Support Teams

    New behaviour support teams are being established in Queensland as part of Disability Services' commitment to increasing its response to the needs of adults with complex support needs.

  • Local area coordination

    Our local area coordinators work with people with a disability and their families to help them find the support they need within their local community.

  • Community Mental Health

    Through the Community Mental Health branch, Disability Services assumes primary responsibility for funding, developing and implementing and monitoring of all existing and new mental health programs delivered through non-government service providers.

  • Mobile Attendant Care

    Mobile Attendant Care forms part of Disability and Community Care Services commitment in providing planned drop-in services to people with a disability and their families.

  • Respite services

    At Disability Services, we provide short-term stays for adults and children with an intellectual disability who are usually cared for by families or other voluntary carers.

  • Supporting Families

    Strengthening the capacity of families to care for family members with a disability, as well as for each other.

  • My Future: My Life

    An early intervention strategy to provide assistance to young people with a disability in their final years of school to plan for their transition from school to adult life.

  • Support for School Leavers

    Support for young adults with a disability leaving and options available.

  • Flexible respite

    Support for young people to live their life to the fullest, in a range of activities which will naturally result in them spending time away from carers.

  • Vehicle Options Subsidy Scheme (VOSS)

    The Vehicle Options Subsidy Scheme (VOSS) is aimed at enabling people with disability, their families and carers to participate further in social and economic opportunities in their community.

Community Aids Equipment and Assistive Technologies Initiative (CAEATI)

CAEATI helps eligible people with a disability with the cost of aids, equipment or assistive technologies to support community access, independence and improved quality of life.
